Refugees enjoy mother nature

Posted on Tuesday, 07 October 2008 11:19AM by Editor
Asylum seekers and refugees who are currently living in Sheffield and South Yorkshire recently took park in a ground-breaking scheme funded by the Big Lottery Fund and run by SWT.

The Environmental Citizenship Project took a number of girls aged 12 to 17 around various woodland sites, aquariums, safari parks and English heritage sites.

The girls are all young asylum seekers who have fled war and persecution in their home countries.

The scheme proved very successful and it is hoped that enjoying the wonders of mother nature and the British countryside will make the girls feel more at home.
