Park Hill

Park Hill

Whether you have lived in Sheffield all your life or have merely visited the city, everyone who has been to Sheffield knows Park Hill. Famous for it’s imposing looks and even more imposing reputation. Park Hill was the site of the first large scale slum clearance in Britain, the previous back-to-back housing was known as 'Little Chicago' in the 1930s, due to the violent crimes committed there. Park Hill became Grade ll* listed in 1998 and is now the largest listed building in Europe. English Heritage argue the site is of international importance. When the building was listed they said: "Park Hill has been regularly studied by sociologists ever since it was opened, and is one of the most successful of its type.

Developer Urban Splash believe by attracting chic restaurants and trendy shops the image of Park Hill can be rescued.
Europe's largest Listed building, Park Hill is viewed as a building of architectural and sociological importance. By working with architects, Studio Egret West, Hawkins Brown and Grant Associates, Urban Splash hopes to reignite the community and this fantastic set of buildings into one of Sheffield's most desirable places to live and work.
The planned development will contain 985 apartments that will stand out from the crowd in today’s modern apartment boom. Work has begun on the site already and the project is due for completion in June 2017.
