Councillors have approved plans for a new Sheffield University student building in Ranmoor. Sheffield Council's West and North planning board approved plans for the unique two-storey student facility on Shore Lane.
The new structure is complete with catering and bar facilities, an IT suite, conference facilities and a laundry. The current application has been revised somewhat from the initial plan and it includes changes to the appearance of the structure and the inclusion of a number of mature trees screening the building.
The
site is the location of former Ranmoor student halls of residence and has now been cleared in preparation for the £160 million
student village.
Planners have dismissed
the objections of The Ranmoor and Endcliffe Action Group saying noise levels would be low and the appearance
would be appropriate for a conservation area. |
