Darnall
Darnall is due east from Sheffield City Centre and
lies either side of the A6102. It’s a hop, skip and a jump away from
the M1 and the Tinsley Park Golf Course (18 holes and wide range of
facilities including shop and restaurant.) Sheffield Parkwayruns
straight into the town centre and, although it gets busy during peak
times, is a very good way of getting about quickly. The area borders
the Tinsley Industrial Estate and the small Sheffield City Airport –
used rarely and then only for small craft. It’s not far north that
you’ll find Sheffield’s famous Meadowhall Shopping Centre with copious
amounts of car parking and vast selection of stores and supermarkets.
The
centre of the area is populated by a library, a number of small grocery
stores, florists, a cake store and other news, banks and convenience
shops. Not far south in Handsworth are the Cross Keys Hotel, The New
Crown Inn and The Turf Tavern – all of which receive mixed reviews
online. Closer to Darnall centre, the White Rose
deserves a look for friendly service and good pricing on a pint. The
Albert Inn and the Terminus Tavern a both within walking distance while
the Half Moon is a bit further south.
Local educational
facilities include the Phillimore Community Primary School, Darnall
Nursery, Acres Hill Primary School and the Darnall Adult Education Centre. All are but a short drive away.
Public
transport in the area consists of regular bus routes to surrounding
areas and the city centre, leaving regularly. ASDA have a large
supermarket nearby in Handsworth which is just the other side of the
Parkway main road. There’s a small retail park in the area as well,
with several phone retailers and beauty stores so you’re not far from
anything you need.
